Release notes and product updates for Tonic Clef, newest first.

  1. Tonic Clef 1.23 — Ear Trainer

    • Ear Trainer is now on the home page and in the menu. Listen, then name the interval — the sounding notes also appear on the staff.
    • Interval training only for now; chord drills and more are planned.
    • The site version is now 1.23 (header label).

  2. Tonic Clef 1.22 — Coach tips

    • Coach now shares short practice tips while you browse (guests and Free). Reload the page to see another one.
    • The site version is now 1.22 (header label).

  3. Tonic Clef 1.21 — Lead Sheet Hub

    • Lead Sheet Hub is now public on the home page and in the menu: browse published charts, keep a personal library, import one song at a time, and open charts in Guide Tone Master.
    • Signed-in Free accounts can keep up to 3 songs in the personal library; Pro is presented as unlimited for everyday use.
    • The site version is now 1.21 (header label).

  4. Explorer, charts, and phone polish

    • Explorers: the page title and menu return you to that tool’s top; bare tool URLs stay a clean landing without forcing a default staff.
    • Phone landscape: Staff Paper, Guide Tone Master, and other tool-split pages sit side-by-side like Explorers so controls stay reachable.
    • Song search (Guide Tone Master and similar): mobile search no longer zooms the page, and results stay above the keyboard.
    • Lead sheets: Segno / Coda glyphs and mid-chart section barlines from iReal import read more reliably on screen and in PDF.
    • Primary buttons and Explorer idle intros are a bit clearer (outline, scroll padding when content is tall).

  5. Tonic Clef 1.1 — Guide Tone Master

    • Guide Tone Master is now public on the home page and in the menu: hear roots and 3rd / 7th guide-tone lines over chord progressions, with solfège or pitch names, tempo, mix, transpose, and song browsing.
    • The site version is now 1.1 (header label).
    • Key pickers: F♯ major is folded into G♭ so enharmonic duplicates don’t compete; the sharp/flat rows line up with F under C.
    • Controls polish: selected buttons and tempo / volume sliders are clearer and more consistent across tools.

  6. Phone landscape layout and Coach expand

    • Phone landscape: Bootcamp and Explorers give more height to the score and controls, with less empty space under the footer.
    • Coach: the folded handle uses less vertical space, so practice controls stay easier to reach.
    • Coach: tapping the handle expands again in landscape (it no longer collapses to a blank strip).
    • Space bar play / pause is more reliable when a transport button still had focus.

  7. Tonic Clef 1.0 — official launch

    • Tonic Clef is now officially available as version 1.0.
    • The Beta label is gone from the header; the site shows 1.0 instead.

  8. Official launch July 21 — Dictionary & Explorer polish

    • Official launch scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 8:00 PM Japan time (was July 19).
    • Dictionary: many terms now show clearer score examples (notes, rests, meters, rhythms, scales, chords, and progressions such as cadences).
    • Dictionary: alternate names and related terms in the side panel; search commits on Enter so Japanese IME typing doesn’t flicker the list.
    • Explorers: score descriptions stay readable in the cream area and no longer get clipped under note labels.
    • Chord symbols: quality and extensions are a bit lighter so the root letter stays easiest to read.
    • Sight-Reading Bootcamp (Survival): the current note value appears under the score title.
    • Site chrome: home feature icons (Scale Explorer, Diatonics) refined; footer copyright name links to ryusukeseto.com.
