Release notes and product updates for Tonic Clef, newest first.
Tonic Clef 1.0 — official launch
- Tonic Clef is now officially available as version 1.0.
- The Beta label is gone from the header; the site shows 1.0 instead.
Official launch July 21 — Dictionary & Explorer polish
- Official launch scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 8:00 PM Japan time (was July 19).
- Dictionary: many terms now show clearer score examples (notes, rests, meters, rhythms, scales, chords, and progressions such as cadences).
- Dictionary: alternate names and related terms in the side panel; search commits on Enter so Japanese IME typing doesn’t flicker the list.
- Explorers: score descriptions stay readable in the cream area and no longer get clipped under note labels.
- Chord symbols: quality and extensions are a bit lighter so the root letter stays easiest to read.
- Sight-Reading Bootcamp (Survival): the current note value appears under the score title.
- Site chrome: home feature icons (Scale Explorer, Diatonics) refined; footer copyright name links to ryusukeseto.com.
Sound Wave Visualizer
- New Tools app: add tones one by one and visualize in real time how the combined wave and spectrum change.
- Now listed under Tools on the home page and in the menu.
- Waveform time zoom (wheel and drag), clearer axes, and press a spectrum bar to solo that partial.
Toward official launch — final beta polish
- Final polish before official launch; the app stays in Beta for now. (Launch date: see later changelog entry.)
- Home: features are now grouped into Training, Library, and Tools for easier browsing.
- Coach (Pro): rate replies with a thumbs up or down to help improve responses.
- Coach (Pro): recent conversation now scrolls back across past sessions.
- Explorers: a new toggle lets you hide catalog items you’ve already stamped in Footprints, so you can focus on what’s left.
Unified score titles, Minor naming, and Footprints updates
- Explorer score titles (Scale, Diatonics, Fret & Key Maps, Dictionary, Bootcamp) now share one typography and wording style.
- Fret & Key Maps title size and weight match other Explorers.
- The basic minor scale is labeled Minor everywhere (replacing Natural Minor).
- Sight-reading Bootcamp shows the current key and scale above the staff during a session.
- Footprints atlas: smoother zoom (wheel and pinch), Analyze hub, and stamps from Diatonics, Fret & Key Maps, and Dictionary.
- Clearer “press Space to start” hint in Bootcamp ready state.
Unified sign-up page and Pro price protection
- Sign-up and Pro upgrade now share one plan comparison page at /signup — Free and Pro side by side with feature lists.
- The former /pro URL opens the same plan page.
- Pro includes price protection: your monthly rate stays the same while your subscription remains active.
- Newsletter opt-in on sign-up now sits above the Google button on the Free plan card.
- Improved sign-up layout on phones and tablets (scrolling and clearer plan cards).
- Updated Terms and legal notices for active-subscription price protection.
Pro overview, Coach memo, and privacy updates
- Added a Pro overview page with Coach, Records, and Footprints — open it from the ? link next to upgrade prompts.
- Pro members can save a memo for Coach in account settings; Coach uses it across chat sessions.
- Added a short note under the Coach memo field about how AI data is handled.
- Updated the Privacy Policy for Coach chat and memo data.
- Refreshed the Footprints page layout.
- Changing your display name in settings now updates the header immediately.
